Exit Outcomes
1st Quarter
Reading:
1. Fiction and Nonfiction
- Choose 3 fiction and 3 non-fiction books selections that have already been shared with the class. Each book should be briefly reviewed. Students then choose whether the text is fiction or non-fiction and tell whether the author’s purpose was to inform or entertain.
2. Manipulating Sounds (average scores from Making Words and Hen to Fox activities)
- Making Words: Students use the following letters to make as many real words as possible in a 20 minute time period. 45 words=100%
- Hen to Fox: Give Students a set of words to spell by changing one sound at a time. 16 words
3. High Frequency Words
- Pretest each student at the beginning of the quarter and post-test again at the end of the quarter using 35 First Quarter High Frequency Words.
4. Fluency
- Pretest each student at the beginning of the quarter and post-test again at the end of the quarter using Reading A-Z passage Level K “Baseball.” Student reads aloud for one minute. Record score. 100%=70WCPM
(Words Per Minute-Mistakes=Words Correct Per Minute)
Writing:
1. Prewriting Strategies
- Use a 4-Square Planner to show prewriting strategies. 5 Points (1 for Topic in the center; 4 Details, 1 point each)
Math:
1. Pictograph
- “Making Pictographs” pg. 183
Count the tally marks and draw baskets on the chart to show how many baskets of each color the class made.
2. Adding
- Class Fact Practice 24A-untimed
Class Fact Practice 27A-timed (2½ minutes)
Average the 2 scores together.
Social Studies:
1. Rules
- After reviewing and discussing school and classroom rules to begin the school year, ask the students to match each rule with the reason why we have that rule. 1 point each.
Science:
1. Butterfly Lifecycle
- Ask the students to write a label for each of the 4 stages in the butterfly’s life cycle in order. Then cut and paste the pictures to correspond with the labels. 8 points total.
2. Butterfly/Arachnid
- Ask the students to fill in a Venn diagram to compare butterflies and arachnids.
(4 facts each for butterflies and arachnids, and 2 facts for both, for a total of 10 points)
2nd Quarter
Art
- Identify a variety of textures from organic and person-made objects (e.g. use the technique of rubbing) 25Ab
- Investigate story, feelings, or expressiveideas shared in the work of two different art forms. 25Bb

- Student will demonstrate ability to reach the National Goals of Physical Fitness for their age level in the following 5 tests: Curl-ups, Pull-ups/Flexed Arm Hang/ Push-ups, Endurance run, Shuttle run, and Sit & Reach.
