WCHS Football 2022 State Champions!!

Our West Central High School Varsity Football team did it!!! They won the IL 8-Man State Championship 44-36 on November 18 at April Zorn Stadium at Monmouth College. Kaiden Droste ran 180 yards on 17 rushes and scored 4 TDs. Parker Meldrum rushed for 45 yards on 8 carries, and Mason Carnes rushed for 50 yards on 10 carries and had 2 TDs. Defensively, Parker Meldrum led the Heat with 21 total tackles with 5 of them being solo tackles. Kaiden Droste had 16 total tackles with 8 being solo tackles. Colton Fletcher added 13 total tackles. Kaiden Droste, Brody Link, and Ian Dunlap each recovered a fumble for the Heat.
Despite the below zero windchill, the West Central cheering section that filled the Monmouth College East Grandstands had fantastic community support and the atmosphere for the Championship game. We are extremely proud of our team, our high school students, and their families for their support and commitment to excellence throughout this football season. Thank you to those of you that joined along the way in this exciting journey we had during this 2021 Football Season.
