The following is a list of scholarships I am aware of. Please contact me if you have any opportunities that may have missed this list: 

 

WATCH FOR THE FAFSA TO OPEN (TYPICALLY OCTOBER 1)

 

West Central High School Financial Aid Night: September 12 @6PM

WCHS welcomes Jayne Schreck from Monmouth College to discuss the FAFSA. Jayne will discuss what the FAFSA is and how it works. She will also show some steps on how to fill the application out. This event should last approx. 1 hour. Come learn about the FAFSA and get your questions answered!

 

Acorn Equality Fund: (Deadline: 9/20/2019)

Our scholarships are designed to provide academic financial support for gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender students, allies or the children of gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender parents. The 2020 scholarships range from $1000 to $4,000 with $35,000 being disbursed in total. To be eligible, the applicant must retain permanent residence in the AEF service area (all Illinois counties except: Cook, DuPage, Grundy, Kane, Kendall, Lake, McHenry and Will) and attend or plan to attend any accredited post-secondary educational facility.

Colgate-Palmolive in partnership with the Hispanic Heritage Foundation, encourages you to get on the path to higher education. Must show academic excellence, demonstrate dedication to community service, and leadership in one’s community.

 American Muscle Student Scholarship Program (Deadline: 10/15/2019)

         Must be pursuing an automotive degree or related field

 Branson Shows Inspired Scholarship (Deadline: 10/15/2019)

          Ages 16-19.

 The Reedsy National Creative Writing Scholarship (Deadline: 10/21/2019)

Value of Scholarship: $1000 biannually

Number of Scholarships Available: 1 cash, 5 sponsorship opportunities for the fall semester award

Requirements: Applicants must be enrolled in a college or graduate program in the United States, Canada, or Australia. Applicants must have completed the first chapter of a novel they are currently writing, or have written but not published, to submit for review.

 Horatio Alger Scholarship (Deadline: 10/25/2019)

Provides financial assistance to students in Illinois who have exhibited integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity.

Coca-Cola Scholars Program (Deadline: 10/31/19)

The Coca-Cola Scholars Program scholarship is an achievement-based scholarship awarded to graduating high school seniors. Students are recognized for their capacity to lead and serve, as well as their commitment to making a significant impact on their schools and communities. With the 31st class in 2019, the Foundation has provided over 6,150 Coca-Cola Scholars with more than $69 million in educational support. 150 Coca-Cola Scholars are selected each year to receive this $20,000 scholarship.

Students should be starting to research college application deadlines, and be thinking about where they will apply. It is not too early to start applying! It is also a good time to start thinking about who to ask for letters of recommendation. Most scholarships want at least 2 letters of recommendation.

Financial Aid Night:

WCHS Welcomes Jayne Schreck from Monmouth College to inform parents and students about the FAFSA. Jayne will explain what the FASFA is, why students should complete it, and answer questions from parents and students.
