Thank You for a Great First Day of School
West Central Families,
Thank you, thank you, thank you so much for your patience and understanding today. We know we have some processes and procedures we need to tweak and speed up, and we will get better at this. Please be patient with us. The first day under normal circumstances is always a little rough, and then add COVID requirements to that, and it makes it a little more so.
Our students were absolutely phenomenal! They complied with all of our new procedures and requirements, and as I told many of them today, that is what we need to happen to keep everyone safe and to keep in-person instruction as an option for as long as possible, hopefully the entire year.
Our staff, our absolutely incredible staff, I am in awe! Every single staff member stepped up today to assist. Everyone is doing their job and helping others with theirs and doing so with pride. You all rocked it today!
A few reminders that will help tomorrow go a little smoother:
1) If your child(ren) ride a bus, please make sure they have their completed and parent/guardian signed certification form before boarding the bus. They will need to show this to the bus driver. Certifying bus riders online will not work because we do not have a way to print out a report and communicate to the bus drivers who has and has not certified, so the paper certification form is the process we have to use in this situation.
2) Some of you have helped us out by your willingness to drop your child off at school and pick them each day. We are very grateful for this! During the registration process we asked you to indicate that. Unfortunately, we had a glitch in our registration process, and that form did not save, so we do not have a record of those selections. We sincerely apologize for that. If you plan to pick up and drop off your child each day, please send a note to your child(ren)'s teacher tomorrow to let him/her know. That would help us out immensely.
3) If you are dropping off and picking up your child each day, please certify them online every morning by 7:30 a.m. We print the certification report at 7:30 a.m., so it must be done before that time.
4) We anticipate bus loading and loading times to get quicker. Please continue to be patient with us. Again, it will get more efficient.
5) Phenomenal job wearing face masks today! Continue to be amazing at it!
6) As long as we are in a modified schedule because of COVID restrictions this year, we will not be having late start Mondays. We will give you advance notice if and when those resume.
Again, thank you West Central families, students and staff for an incredible first day. We are so happy to see our quiet classrooms and halls filled with activity, laughter, and love! We missed you and are so glad to have you back!
